CHRISTIAN DRESS & ADORNMENT
Why Try To Look Good, When You Can Easily Be Good-Looking?

Introduction
We can generally tell the work a person does by how they dress (cf. doctors, UPS workers, nurses, prostitutes, schools people attend, etc.). We may even be able tell one’s religion by their clothing (Muslim, Sikhs, Nuns, Rastafarians, Amish, Adventists, etc.). More importantly, a person’s character is often revealed by their dress. Thus, the subject of dress and adornment should be of interest to Christians, since our outward appearance may say more about our faith than what we actually say.
The issue of dress and adornment should not only be of interest to women. It equally applies to men—especially in our changing times when men are beginning to dress and adorn themselves just as women.
Bodily adornment involves the use of jewelry (gold, silver, pearls, etc.), elaborate hair-dos, and expensive clothes to enhance...

"Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" (Matt 7:22-23, NIV; cf. GC, pp. 588, 589).

Introduction
What would you say is the most important thing that happened on the day of Pentecost?” Wherever I have asked this question, the most frequently-given answers have been:
--the 120 disciples were finally with one accord in a Jerusalem Upper Room
--there was an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the disciples
--the disciples spoke in tongues–real foreign languages they had not previously learned
--Peter preached a powerful sermon that resulted in 3,000 baptisms.
--The apostles were transformed into men of conviction, fearless courage and boldness
Without doubt, the day of Pentecost witnessed the greatest revival in Christian history. It is generally recognized as the birthday of the Christian church, launching the church as a spirit-filled missionary movement.

1. An international war-crime tribunal has established beyond reasonable doubts that the dictators Adolf Hitler, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein, and others are guilty of genocide (i.e, the deliberate and systematic murder of millions of people belonging to some ethnic groups and races). As punishment for their crimes against humanity they have been sentenced to face capital punishment. These war criminals themselves acknowledge that the trial was fair, and the verdict was just. Under these circumstances would you approve as morally right the execution these mass-murderers?
YES NO

Should we really be out of our minds? Yes!—that's what the Bible says. For, in order to have the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5), we must first be out of our minds. This radical concept holds the key to total surrender, true faith, victorious Christian living, and authentic biblical spirituality and lifestyle. It is also the secret to change the church—and the world.
The concept of being out your mind is so deep a subject that it merits an entire series of seminars at this year’s meeting of young people at GYC.
But why should we focus on the mind? Why should we be out of our minds? And what are the indicators that we are truly out of our minds? You’ll find the answers during my seminar--one of the nineteen seminar tracks at this...

The Gospel of Tolerance vs. Church Discipline

The gospel of tolerance is a worldly attempt to win souls and keep them in the church. Those who believe in this designer gospel maintain that more people will join the church and stay in it if, instead of “judging people,” we simply “accept them the way they are.” This gospel is preached loudest when an offending member comes up for church discipline.
The scriptural basis for this new gospel is Christ’s statement in His Sermon on the Mount, “Judge not, that ye be not judged” (Matt 7:1). Those who have embraced the gospel of tolerance insist that it is wrong for the church to discipline anyone. Since only an infallible God (or the Holy Spirit)...
